Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mechanical Spine Pain Institute Inc. ("MSPI", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information through this website and our online learning platform. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Last updated: October 28, 2026.

1. Who we are

Mechanical Spine Pain Institute Inc. is a Canadian organization that provides evidence-based education in the mechanical assessment and management of spine pain. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with this policy. You can reach the Privacy Officer at info@spinecourse.ca.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information we need: your name, email address, profession and the professional details required to register you and issue a certificate of completion; your learning records, such as course progress, knowledge check results and completion status; messages you send us; and limited technical information collected through cookies (see section 7). Payments are entered directly with our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to create and manage your account, deliver the online and in-person parts of the course, record your progress and completion, issue certificates, send you information you need about a course you are enrolled in (for example, in-person training details), respond to your questions, and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We will send you news about future courses or other promotional messages only if you have given your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time.

4. Sharing with service providers

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, such as our learning platform provider, payment processor and email provider, and only as needed for them to perform their services under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. We may also disclose information where required by law.

5. Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada. When this happens, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities of those jurisdictions. We choose providers that maintain appropriate safeguards.

6. Your choices and consent

By registering, you consent to the uses described in this policy. You can manage your cookie and marketing preferences in the privacy settings of your account, unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in any message, or contact us.
Messages that are necessary to deliver a course you are enrolled in are part of the service and are not promotional. If you withdraw consent to uses that are essential to the course, we may be unable to provide it.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep the site secure and working, such as keeping you signed in. With your consent, we may also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the cookie banner and change your choice at any time in your cookie preferences.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal and record-keeping requirements. Signed-in users can submit these requests through their account privacy settings, or anyone can email info@spinecourse.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Security and breaches

We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encrypted connections, restricted administrative access and limited staff access on a need-to-know basis. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law, and keep a record of all breaches.

10. Retention and changes to this policy

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including course and certificate records, then securely delete or anonymize it. We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows the most recent version.

11. Contact us
